For people who are supported by CLW (including where we administer funding), we provide a unique opportunity to access a telemedicine benefit through Green Shield Canada. In cases where the person we support lives independently or at their family home, the benefit can also be extended to household members at no additional cost.

What is the cost?
Access to the telemedicine benefit is $79 per year, which covers the person and others in their household (normally $79 per month). The cost reflects the fee that Green Shield charges CLW plus an administrative component to onboard you into the system.

How do I pay?
In order to pay you must become a site member and make a payment by credit card (this can be done below). The payment is set up as recurring yearly until you cancel. In order to reduce administrative burdens, we do not facilitate alternate payments for this specific opportunity.

Can other family members outside the household join?
No. The benefit is for the person we support, and is extendable to others in the household only.

Can independent contractors and family employees join?
No. The benefit is for the person we support, and is extendable to others in the household only.

Who provides the service?
The service is provided by Maple (https://www.getmaple.ca/). Members can access Maple's service through Green Shield benefits, which CLW is extending to people we support.

Tell me about the medical service
Telemedicine services are provided by Canadian doctors. The doctors can make diagnoses, prescribe medication, and refer to local specialists, just like if you were to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic. See their flyer.

Does CLW have access to my medical records?
Absolutely not. CLW has nothing to do with the provision of telemedicine service and we do not receive your records. CLW acts strictly as a way for you to receive this service at a substantially discounted rate.

What other information is required?
After you pay for the service, you will be brought to a page where you will complete the registration for each person who is to be added to the benefit. One registration is required per person (remember that the one payment covers everyone in the household).

Does CLW provide technical assistance?
No. We are providing this access as a courtesy to the people we support and the members of their household. However, we do not have extra administrative capacity to assist people through the process. If you need help, you may consider asking a family member, trusted other, or support person to assist you in navigating the onboarding process.

What equipment is required?
Telemedicine is an online service that will require you to have internet access and a device suitable for online meetings. Most computers, tablets, and phones will have this capability. CLW does not provide these devices.

Do you provide refunds?
No. The fee we charge covers the time and effort we spend to on-board you into the system. If you do not like the service and wish to cancel, there is additional work required on CLW's end for that process as well. You can cancel at any time.

Will I get instant access to telemedicine?
No. After you pay you will be brought to a registration page. After you register the people required, it will take 5-10 business days to process on CLW's end. Following that, you will receive further communication from Green Shield on how to access the service.

Should I contact Green Shield?
CLW is Green Shield's client. They expect CLW to upload all information into the system. Additionally, payments are handled through CLW, not Green Shield, so they will not be able to assist in that regard. However, once you are registered in their system, Green Shield will provide details on how to access the telemedicine service.
